Postpartum Doula Services

As a Certified Postpartum Doula I am trained in many aspects of caring for new families. Each family has their own preferences as to what they want me to focus on, and I always arrive without an agenda and willing to be adaptable each time I visit. My main objective is to work myself out of a job, empowering new parents to be comfortable in their new roles. Below are some common services I provide as a Postpartum Doula:

I am happy to help out with some light household chores that need to be done, including dishes, laundry, sweeping, etc. This allows families to focus on the newborn and allows them to rest and recuperate. Organizing the set-up of changing tables, breastfeeding areas, baby’s room, diaper bags, etc. is also something I can assist with.

There are many feelings that come with becoming a new family, and I will be happy to be a listening ear, providing non-judgmental support and nurturing the whole family as you make this big adjustment.

Taking care of your new little one comes with many detailed tasks that may not come easy to new parents. I offer assistance with bathing, swaddling, changing diapers, babywearing, breastfeeding/bottle feeding positions and troubleshooting, etc. I can also watch your newborn for short periods of time while you take a walk, do some errands, shower, or take a much-needed nap.

Whatever your needs may be during the postpartum time that are beyond my knowledge, I am happy to provide outside resources for you. I have lists of many types of services and providers I can refer you to that are respected in the community for helping new families. Some common referrals are made for:

  • Massage therapy
  • Lactation Consultants
  • Pelvic floor physical therapy
  • Breastfeeding/bottle-feeding supplies
  • Postpartum mood disorder support
  • Birth doulas/midwives
  • Parent-baby groups
  • Postpartum yoga classes
  • And more…

As a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I specialize in postnatal nutrition for both mother and baby. I am able to provide a nutritional assessment and a plan to maximize healing, energy, lactation, sleep, etc., as well as provide customized meal plans and help in preparing nourishing foods for recovery in this important time.
